In the Loop
Welcome to Idealog Weekly, the free email newsletter for New Zealand commercial creatives, entrepreneurs and anyone rich with ideas.
In the Loop
Mikee Tucker may indeed be breast-less and therefore not up much at night with his infant son, but his independent music publishing house Loop Recordings Aot(ear)oa is going places. Having transformed itself from a cafe culture magazine to a full-blown music label, with acts like The Black Seeds and Fly My Pretties onboard, Tucker is now looking at the next step. And that step involves some creative thinking, as record sales alone would never keep Loop afloat.
He’s packaged music with t-shirts, A.A. memberships and broadband,
bought rights to Aerosmith and Nirvana and opened an office in L.A.

It’s hard to summarise the hardship and struggle of African Americans over centuries, but Wallstats.com has done a great job of it, using beautiful typography.

wondering, here are six good reasons. To that list, we’d like to add number seven: It’s bloody good fun.
Quote of the week
I see it as a strength that there are a lot of small companies in New
Zealand. That is where innovation happens. What isn’t happening is
talking to each other.
—Bill Wilmot of Sri International on on how to engender an entire culture of innovation in New Zealand
