In a first for Wellington’s CBD, artists and property developers are working side by side to fill empty commercial sites through a new project. Pop-up works by leading Kiwi artists will appear in vacant spots around the city—outside of traditional gallery spaces—this April and May, with the opening installation by sound artist Dugal McKinnon kicking off on April 18 on Willis Street. Following that, Kim Paton will display at a site owned by Foodstuffs, using surplus produce that would otherwise have been deemed as waste.

Handmade masterpiece
In the summer of 1995, bookmaker Johnny Carrera found a tattered Webster’s 1898 International Dictionary under his grandfather’s favourite chair.
