Consumer NZ’s new site cuts through telco twaddle

Not content with merely helping consumers get the best deal on electricity with Powerswitch, Consumer NZ has launched a telecommunications comparison website to cut through the maze of packages on offer. Telme.org.nz provides price comparisons for telecommunications and ISPs and covers internet, landline, mobile, TV and mobile broadband services. Chief executive Sue Chetwin said the site was developed in an effort to provide more transparency for Kiwis as to the ongoing costs of services.

Time for a patent shake-up

American inventors are being dragged into the 21st century with a shake-up of the country’s IP laws. In June the US House of Representatives passed the America Invents Act, which marks a change in the patent laws that is radical for the US but standard for the rest of the world – which can only be a good thing for Kiwi innovators.
