Well-loved Kiwi toy Buzzy Bee is soon to be
brought to screens around the world, while ushering in a new concept in
children’s interactive entertainment at the same time. Local
entertainment company Lion Rock Ventures has just signed a co-production
deal with Malaysian production company Lemon Sky Animation to produce
52 seven-minute TV episodes featuring the iconic character.

Trading cards are getting the Web 2.0 treatment in
GrabOne’s first Facebook app, featuring 30 collectable cards emblazoned
with the brand’s aqua fan-created mascot, Gimme. Developed in
collaboration with digital agency GladEye, Gimme5 players use points to
‘buy’ or ‘grab’ packs of virtual cards which can be exchanged, sold or
traded online and be in to win a variety of prizes.

From pop-up toasters to peerless film production, an
exhibition featuring all aspects of Kiwi design is hitting Wellington later
this month. The exhibition OldSchool/New School, an art and design
history of New Zealand, will be on display in the Great Hall of the Museum
Building from September 29, celebrating everything from industrial design to
fashion and the high-tech properties in communication design.
