Auckland’s new Food Innovation Centre is officially open for business. Te
Ipu Kai, the Food Bowl, is based in Manukau at the airport and comprises a pilot plant
with research facilities, product developers, certification
agencies, business development support, and universities. It will operate 24/7 and support manufacturers in developing and
testing new products for commercialisation specifically for the fast
moving consumer goods market.

New Zealand Mint is immortalising the world’s most
famous sea sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants, on a square silver bullion
coin, along with some of his
friends. The coins will be legal tender in Niue and feature a Raphael
Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II sovereign on their reverse.

Orion Health,
New
Zealand’s largest privately-owned software exporter, has scored two
business wins in China less than a year after entering the market. The
company’s Rhapsody Integration Engine software has been licensed for
use in the public sector through local partner Shanghai Kingstar
Winning, plus a further 11-hospital integration project in the Shenzhen
Guangdong province through partner Beijing Sinodata.
