The Brightest Idea of all: Keeping it green

The Kiwi-invented Greenkeeper – a system that helps companies reduce their carbon footprint, not a golf maintenance pro – has walked away from the Bright Ideas Challenge with a cool $25,000 to accelerate its growth. It ensures  desktop and laptop computers are switched off when not in use, alleviating the fact the IT sector currently has a greater carbon footprint than the aviation industry.

2degrees introduces first Te Reo smartphone

Upstart mobile operator 2degrees has unveiled the world’s first Te Reo Māori smartphone, an IDEOS X3 that will go on sale before Christmas. 2degrees worked closely with handset manufacturer, Huawei, to translate all of the menus in its IDEOS X3 smartphone to Te Reo Māori.
