There’s plenty of room for 3D disruption in
enterprise, according to Kiwi technology business Right Hemisphere,
which was behind some of the software used in the manufacture of
Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner. According to Mark Thomas, CTO and founder, the
death knell has been sounded for all kinds of product communications
that we currently still access on dead trees.

1.8 x 1.4 metres. That’s the size of the world’s
biggest atlas, to be published next month – with the mark of Kiwi
cartographers on every page. Wellington’s cartographic company Geographx was responsible for the coordination of cartography of the 128-page Earth Platinum, of which just 31 copies will be available at US $100,000.

The global gaming industry shows no signs of
slowing down and Kiwi developers are getting their share of the pie –
the local game development industry grew by a whopping 46 percent this
year. New Zealand Game Developers
Association chair Stephen Knightly said Kiwi game developers were early adopters of online
distribution and self-publishing and were now seeing the rewards. “New Zealand games studios are export businesses, employing highly
skilled technical and creative staff, creating original game ideas and
increasingly retaining that intellectual property in New Zealand.

Government agencies spend more than $60 million on the
purchase of advertising and media services in New Zealand every year and
there are some fairly rigid structures in place to make sure public
entities get the best partner for the best price. But, after 12 months’
work by a team of senior agency and government communications
practitioners on establishing Government Best Practice Guidelines for
Selecting Advertising and Media Agencies, CAANZ and the Department of
the Prime Minister and Cabinet have come up with a few more.

Amazon’s flame may have waned as of late, but its success can’t be denied. And
most of that comes down to chief executive Jeff Bezos, a man described
as both a ‘happy-go-lucky mogul’ and a ‘notorious micromanager’. Apparently
Bezon is also a calculating machine who makes ‘deal-flow’ charts for
every major decision, from what business to create to how to choose a
spouse. Indeed.
