Wellington-based angel investment
group Angel HQ is partnering with the New Zealand Venture
Investment Fund to invest up to $8 million into startups. When Angel HQ invests into a new company, NZVIF
will match that amount, and is committing to invest
up to $4 million through the partnership. Angel HQ
chairman Bruno Bordignon said the deal would bring more capital into innovative businesses in Wellington.

Cerebos says it won’t lift its $2.50-a-share offer
for Comvita and that the valuation range given by an independent
adviser is not justified. Cerebos
Gregg’s chief executive George Crocker rubbished the price of $3.40 to
$4, based on forecast earnings, given by Grant Samuel. The $71.6 million proposal closes on December 22.

The app explosion is set to reach a new milestone within the week – one million mobile apps. Mobilewalla, a search, discovery and analytics engine that tracks apps in real time, said the count had risen to 989,476 across
all four platforms. Apple holds about 60 percent market share, while Android
accounts for 32 percent and Blackberry and Windows account for the rest
at 4.4 and 3.6 percent.
