The floating of TradeMe has drawn support from a diverse range of investors but now it’s back to business. It is now a standalone company publicly
listed on both the NZSX and ASX under the ticker TME after the completion of its IPO, which raised $363.5 million.

Telecom has followed Vodafone in sharply increasing its iPhone prices. Last
month Telecom was adamant it was not putting up its prices, after
Vodafone increased iPhone prices on its two cheapest plans due to high
demand. But Telecom customers signing up for its $40 and $60 a
month smartphone plans for 24-month terms will now pay between $210 and
$280 more for their handset, depending on the plan and model.

Internet service providers PlaNet, Actrix and
Inspire have topped Consumer NZ’s customer service survey, with all
three rating over 96 percent. But Vodafone
had a 62 percent customer service satisfaction and Telecom/Xtra got 68
percent on its scorecard, well below the average – and Slingshot took the wooden spoon.

Fonterra has boosted its pre-Christmas boost
forecast payout for farmers, which would result in nearly $300 million
extra flowing into Kiwi coffers. Yesterday it raised its forecast payout for the 2011/12 season 20c to $6.90-$7, just three months after shaving 45c/kg off projected payouts citing falling easing
prices and the strong dollar.

It was a big year of rugby for adidas and TBWA\ was behind much of
the work done to leverage its sponsorship of the All Blacks. ‘All In’
and Stand in Black were solid campaigns, but for many they were
overshadowed by the PR backlash that ensued after the jersey price
debacle. And as the global sports giant shifts its focus away from rugby
and towards other sports, so the focus also shifts away from the New
Zealand branch and towards the two agencies it uses in Australia.

Skilled job vacancies are up again after a dip in the last two months, according to the latest analysis by the Department of Labour. The most recently results from the Department’s Jobs Online index show skilled job listings grew by 3.3 percent in November, compared to October. Job
vacancies overall also grew by 4.2 percemt.

Ecostore has emerged as the standout
performer in a recent survey by Canstar Blue, beating big brands Persil,
Reflect and Fab. In a study of nearly 2000 shoppers, consumers rated seven laundry detergent brands and deemed Ecostore the most effective. Founder Malcolm Rands said customers were moving towards brands that promote sustainability and are considered good for the environment.
