Idealog #2: this is becoming a habit
By Matt Cooney,
Idealog #2 is in bookstores and supermarkets from Monday, February 20. This issue is jam-packed with stories of creative Kiwis, ranging from veteran adman Roy Meares (the subject of our cover profile) to the youngsters who offered up some great ideas for Let's Get Inventin', a TV show where their invention ideas are put to the test. The results are often inspired.
We have stories about radio astronomy, modern dance, and a collaboration between poets and physicists. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer talks about ideas, innovation and the infuriating iPod. Columnists Hamish Coney, Paul Wilding, Martin Brown, Vincent Heeringa and Russell Brown weigh in on their areas of expertise. Outgoing Creative NZ head Peter Biggs fronts up to the Idealog Grill to explain why he's heading to Oz. We take a look at New Zealanders through the lenses of photographers including Marti Friedlander, Alistair Guthrie, Adam Custins and Aaron K.
There's plenty more (check out our contents page) but one story that we're already getting feedback on is Paint It Black, Deborah Hill Cone's examination of our national psyche. Kiwis can be a gloomy bunch—so how do we create an environment where free thinking, entrepreneurship and creativity flourish? Pick up Idealog #2 and find out.

And like the old mantra goes, you don't know what you don't know; Idealog has filled a gap in the New Zealand knowledge universe. Tumeke!
