Idealog—in the ideas business

Fight Club … not

There's a guy in London with a terrific blog, We're as disappointed as you are. Sounds dreary, but nothing could be further the truth. But what I really like is his idea of the coffee morning …

If you are interested in discussing ideas with like and unlike minded people come to the first coffee morning. I was tempted to give it a new, snappy name, but I like the laconic opposite of Fight Club - which, of course leads to the rules of coffee morning:

  1. Do talk about coffee morning
  2. Turn up and sit there. Bring a book to read. If no-one else turns up that's fine, you've got a couple of hours of book reading. If someone does turn up. Hurrah!
  3. Anyone can come.
  4. No agenda. Just talk about whatever comes up.
  5. Other beverages are allowed (hate to exclude green tea drinkers).

So, first coffee morning venue and time is 8.00 am Wednesday next week, Rear courtyard, Strawberry Alarm cafe on Parnell Road.

I hope to see you there.

Of course Coffee Morning is open source. You can start your own.

Speaking of coffee, my co-founders of Idealog and I are having lunch at Dizengoff on Ponsonby Road on Friday 1 December to celebrate the first anniversary of the first issue from 12.00pm. I won't be reprising the chopped liver of our first meeting there two years ago.

Stop by and say g'day.

What time on Wednesday?

Ahhh, good spotting…8 am

Fabulous time had by all. I read a couple of chapters of the dreary Architecture of Happiness by Alan de Botton and enjoyed a soy latte nonpareil.

See you next time.

Magic, I reckon wellington needs a coffee morning at a greasy spoon. I will bring my lastest trucking mag and high vis vest.
