It’s Showtime
By David MacGregor,
It’s the time of year when graduating design students show the fruits of their labours.
Set aside some time to check the shows out. They are usually interesting whether you are considering attending a design school or looking for talent.
I’d like to see some cohesion and collaboration between the shows. It would make sense to have every portfolio show under one roof as a major event. Not only would the costs be shared for staging and promotion but it would better serve industry leaders who are time poor and sometimes unmotivated to attend all of the shows. I realise there is some feeling that the schools are in competition with one another but I think this is a misplaced view. Spurious promotional themes by each of the schools are usually poorly conceived—the work will speak for itself.
Here are the main events in Auckland over the next few weeks.

Great idea Dave. It's a great way to pick up some talent (er, for your workforce) and the scale would create a much better show.
