Be a biographer: tell a sex trade survivor’s story through design

Be a biographer

This is cool.  The Blind Project helps women who have escaped the sex trade in Southeast Asia by selling t-shirts with designs inspired by survivor stories, and funnels profits back to the women involved.

Be a biographer initiative, open through September 15.

According to a press-release, the t-shirts, with designs submitted via Be a biographer, are made by women who have been rescued from the commercial sex trade.  Proceeds go to the women, "creating a virtuous sustainable cycle", according to the organisation.

A nice chance to contribute something for a good cause.

On behalf of The Blind Project, thank you for writing this article. Your design blog is very cool and simply inspirational, and to be considered among others in it is just awe-some (plus+ you guys are in New Zealand - Haka All Blacks!).

We hope your readers will be inspired to design for the millions of women and children who have been enslaved and exploited in the multi-billion dollar commercial sex trade. It's pretty powerful to read each artist's inspiration statement and see the resulting artwork.

As Kyle, our business development lead, says… What makes this new sustainable style brand truly unique, is the creation of a more personal one-to-one connection between two distinct populations – victims and consumers – and moving them both toward a better tomorrow.

We are much obliged for your support @ Design Daily.

Love, TBP.
