WIN some vintage looking beer for a look-in at your fave piece of vintage
By Design Daily Team,
Having been in the business of beer for some 50 years now, beer brand DB Export decided it was time to spruce up its image (see story here). The creative hands of Dow Design were brought on board for the job and the result is a fresh new look that also pays homage to the past by incorporating retro and nostalgic design.

How to win
We’re giving you the chance to revisit the 60s by taking home a twin-pack of DB Export's limited edition quart bottles, complete with the old style print press packaging. Just share a link with us (and we'll post the picture) to your favourite piece of retro design—be it food, drink, or a piece of technology. Take this brilliantly yellow Sony Sports Walkman for example.

Cobra Phone

Slinky Dog

Red iPad casing

Cuba Street Radiotone

Radiowealth TV set from the 1960s

Atari

My favourite is the Ericsson Cobra Phone - I have one that I bought back from Stockholm and it still works - it's such a classic!

I love the retro Slinky Dog Packaging. Its classic with its illustrations any use of white space on the brown card (much like what DB has used for their packaging).

I love new technology that is designed to look retro, specially with the rounded red look.
As well as this ipad, I also admire the misc kitchen appliances, and stereos :) in a similar style.

I love retro looking tube guitar amps! Especially the Cuba Street Radiotone - which looks like an old wireless radio but has a bite that will rock your world!

As far as retro ads go, this one is a doozy.

Found this one. I think I've seen them at my grandma's house a very long time ago.

I enjoy the interstitial period of design where electrical devices were made to fit the furniture design of the day. In particular deco pieces with wood veneer casing on radios and television. I particularly like General electric items.

Further to Simons comment re wooden veneer … Atari had retro gaming downpat. Got to love the time and money that went into a good old game of Pacman! (And Pacman is most certainly retro!)

80's retro bicycle componentry icon - Campagnolo Delta brake calipers. They were Italian, heavy, didn't work well, but they are still on the wish-list of many a bike rider.

The Polaroid SX70. A pure classic and I had one as a younger man. It had faux leather inlays and the consertina mechanism worked perfectly everytime. Clicked into place, ready to go. When finished just fold it up. It was like a transformer camera in disguise. The film cartridges weren't cheap so you had to really pick your subject matter. Not like nowadays jusk clicking away at everything on a phone.

Just like my nana had, brings back memories. Cake Mixers are not like this anymore.

Retro is making a comeback these days, with everything from fashion, to interior design to furniture design, and even to cars. The best and most timeless designs last throughout the ages, and some styles look great even when people in the future decide to use it again. Just like how we are going through a retro revival in our everyday designs.
