WIN Earthwise goodies for your eco design suggestion

Although Tom Robinson began his natural, plant-based products venture in the 60s, his Earthwise range of home cleaning products is only now making its way to supermarket shelves thanks in large to a funky brand makeover.

To celebrate the Earthwise rebrand, we’ve got three Earthwise Home Range kits to give away for the best eco packaging suggestions.

How to Win

Share a link showing what you think is a great example of eco branding or packaging. For example, we really dig these Easy Peasy (EZPZ) children’s shoes made using eco friendly raw materials. And check out the cool bags they come in!

COMPETITION NOW CLOSED.

I personally applaud cosmetics firm Lush for their approach to producing natural products, in a sustainable manner and with the least amount of packaging.

Innovations such as solid shampoos and massage bars (instead of oils), mean that plastic bottles are unnecessary for these items, which are simply wrapped in paper.

They work hard to source ingredients directly from the growers, who are paid a fair price for their crops, and have eliminated ingredients such as palm oil from their products.

Plant extracts and essential oils are used in place of artificial fragrances.

Paper shopping bags are used, instead of plastic - and to encourage recycling a customer can return 5 empty product containers, they can receive a fresh facemask free of charge.

I have no affiliation to Lush, other than being a very happy & impressed customer. :)

Its not really packaging. But we use so many paper cups per day, maybe we should start taking our own to the store

The Freestore Wellington.. haven't been there myself but I really admire the work they are doing. The products are supplied by local retailers and cafes etc. and supplied to people free of cost!!
A great way to reduce wastage and and rechannel excess produce to those who need them.

Another example I found was http://www.thegreenone.co.nz/
I love the idea of biodegradable rubbish bags.

I'd love it if supermarkets used biodegradable bags and charged for them as an alternative to their plastic bags which are such a problem. Other countries are getting rid of them - we are way behind in New Zealand. Come on NZ supermarkets!

I love this funky earphone packaging - http://design-muse.blogspot.com/2008/04/eco-friendly-packaging.html

Also Karen has a great poin about LUSH - I really like the scarves they are now using to wrap things like bath bombs in, a cool idea!

I Love AHNU Shoes! Like they say on their website: “Some companies utilize organic ingredients and commit to sustainable practices. Others make sure to be certified by Fair Trade. Ahnu goes one step above and beyond”..PLUS they are fantastic shoes!

I love Ecostore's products, packaging and marketing. Great products and fabulous market placement.

I love body care products from Ethique. Not only are all their products made from natural ingredients but their packaging is recyclable and some is dissolvable! All their packaging is simple yet still pretty - check out their cute cupcake soaps! Their products are all handmade in Christchurch too :)

We just specified these chairs from EMECO for a cafe, each one is made from 111 recycled coke bottles. GREAT CHAIR, GREAT STORY!

Great company, the first geothermal paper mill in the world and it's in Kawerau. Have loads of ECNZ products, use sustainable forestry practices and they say they can trace their paper back to the tree!
