Creative technologies get their very own journal
By Design Daily Team,
AUT’s Colab has been the
hub for many an interesting creative revelation, like this piece of work from
former Colab resident Matt Kenyon. Now the interdisciplinary creative
technology centre is translating its ideas to the written word with the launch
of Journal: Creative Technologies. The new online, open access,
peer-reviewed journal for the publication of research and innovation in creative
technologies will help Colab’s work in facilitating and promoting
interdisciplinary research, development and collaboration between education,
creative and commercial industries.
The journal’s editor and editorial executive board is made up of senior academics and post-graduate researchers from the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies at AUT University. Experts from around New Zealand and internationally will also be invited to join the editorial board based on the theme of each issue.
“There are very few avenues for emerging researchers to publish work that brings together the various strands of creative technologies,” says editor Jennie Watts, “so Journal: Creative Technologies serves a unique purpose, providing inclusive space for the expression of new research and development in this diverse area.”
Kicking off the first issue will be five papers centered around the notion of Transmedia/Transmodality, with a particular focus on the dialectic between creation and production, performance and experience, and internally and externally mediated space.
