Idealog—in the ideas business

One square meal

We’re loving Mexican designer Edgar Navarro’s Module Lounge. Aside from looking a dam site impressive, it’s also space efficient and practical. Navarro designed the Module Lounge together with a friend from an industrial design worskshop he took at University. It’s made from recycled cardboard that is treated to resist water and heat damage. When the time comes to feast, you simply pull out the chairs. The table also comes equipped with an ambient light.

Love love love this. Is it in production or just a prototype (you never can tell from computer-generated images)

Not wanting to be known as someone who knocks others, I would like to point out that I have a similar table about 140 years old, albeit round/halfround by way of clever folding. It has a further advantage: made from sustainable hardwood and it only needs natural oil for occasional surface treatment. Further, when all the chairs are pushed under the table, which has about a quarter of Edgar's table footprint and my rather large dog can still dash through under it. When this table was 'conceived', candles were used for ambient light. JB
