Architecture Week Auckland launches this Saturday

In under one week the biggest event on the Auckland architectural calendar kicks off. From Saturday 24 September to Saturday 1 October, Architecture Week Auckland will bring together a variety of activities in a number of locations, including exhibitions, a sculpture park visit, the launch of the Women in Architecture project and a talk by international guest speaker Sean Godsell. The Melbourne-born architect has received numerous local and international awards, including the Victorian Premier’s Design Award in and the RAIA Robin Boyd Award in 2006. In 2007 he received the Capochin residential architecture award in Italy and a Chicago Athenaeum award in the USA, all for his St Andrew’s Beach House project.
Local architectural firms Fearon Hay and Peddle Thorp Architects will also deliver a joint presentation on their co-win of Waterfront Auckland’s design competition for a 300-room hotel in the Wynyard Quarter.
