I can barely tell Israel Dagg from Aaron Cruden, but I know this much: he's made it. Made it onto a Mr Vintage shirt, that is, a feat that in itself speaks volumes.
Aaron Cruden is the new Dan Carter. I was in Australia when Dan Carter went down clutching his groin, and I could literally hear NZ go in to a quiet state of panic. Talk back was abuzz with speculators speculating; then Colin Slade came in. Aaron Cruden was just skating around being a kid, when Colin also went down with the curse of the groin. By now talkback had already shifted to people wanting to bring back Tony Brown – when Aaron Cruden came in. His cameo against Argentina was bright; his droppie against Australia confirmed that we could rest easy. There is life after Dan.
