‘Stop child murder’: The path to a culture of cycling
By Sustain Team,
Think bicycles, think Netherlands. It's home to the world's biggest number of cyclists.
But that didn't happen overnight. After all, bike paths weren't always there, and they most definitely didn't spring up out of nowhere.
Just how did the Dutch foster a culture of cycling? Here, the Dutch Cycling Embassy explains how the community made it more than possible to commute without a car, starting with a determination to deal to road fatalities.

No hills there!

Awesome clip thanks for posting Vincent. Plenty the Nats could learn from as they continue to burn through infrastructure money on more roads for cars.

Not all of the Netherlands is flat, Rob, but all of the Netherlands has bicycle lanes. Having hills is no excuse for not having bike lanes! Amsterdam and other major Dutch cities are now facing the problem of bike congestion and parking - the policy of discouraging cars and enabling/encouraging cycling has become an completely other sort of infrastructure problem.
