Idealog—in the ideas business

Every Apple design ever (almost)

It's one of the biggest brands in the world today, thanks largely to late leader Steve Jobs and his cult of personality.

Here's almost every Apple design ever rolled out, in (just over) 30 seconds – even the terrible ones. Commence reminiscing.

I didn't see the clamshell iBook or its predecessor a translucent clamshell with a newton-ish thing inside (I gave examples of each to Massey University design school in Albany for its apple museum).

I love the idea, but the execution is just a bit too swift for my baby-boomer eyes. Maybe it's my age?

Anyway, apart from a Performa that I gave away, I still have just about everything Apple produced lying about in my house: a still-functioning Cube, ditto an aqua clam-shell, first-gen i Book, later iBook, a MacMini, iPad 2, and a couple of iPods. There's my last 16 years summarised in form joined with function, and still I persist with the idea that the Cube was one of the best. Will my epitaph be “He died as he lived, with an Apple a day”?
