SBN forum spawns renewable energy working group

Hot on the heels of the Sustainable Business Network’s forum on creating sustainable wealth, a number of organisations have come together to form a working group focused on developing a resilient renewable energy supply for Auckland.

SBN chief executive Rachel Brown says the key has been to involve those with mutual interest in creating greater value from renewables and contributors so far include Vector; Solar City; Solar Group; Solar Association of New Zealand, Meridian Energy; Contact Energy; Mighty River Power; EECA; NZ Trade and Investment; and Auckland Council.

“It’s essential for us not to replicate what has already been done and also ensure that it’s relevant to the New Zealand/Auckland context.  SBN will be using its national network to link in and learn from other parts of NZ, as well as internationally, to ensure we’re considering best global practice solutions. Real, practical solutions will be a mix of new market-led offerings, collaborative projects, and a realignment of council or government policy and regulations.”

The group will be facilitated by Alec Tang from consultancy Environmental Resources Management.
