St Matthew strikes a controversial pre-Christmas blow
By Idealog,
Just in time for Christmas, St Matthew-in-the-City has a new billboard up that's sure to rark up the community.
"It's time for Jesus to come out," it proclaims, alongside an image of Baby Jesus in his crib sporting a halo of rainbow colours.
Reverend Clay Nelson said it challenged viewers to think about Jesus as fully human.
“Some scholars have tried to make the case that he might have been gay,” says Nelson. “But it is all conjecture. Maybe gay, maybe not. Does it matter?”
Reverend Glynn Cardy said it was worth asking what Jesus would have said about New Zealand’s current debate on gay marriage.
“There is almost nothing in the record of his teachings about sexuality while there is plenty about the perils of being rich. Certainly he always supported the marginalised in society.”

So Jesus was a whiny leftie?

He couldn't have been. Being Gay is a product of the 1970s when hormonal and psychological imbalance are accepted as a pseudo-gender. Before then, gay originally meant happy then in the 1600s became linked to prostitution.
