Allen Dilling, lead designer for Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm; and Max Aristov, whose credits include Wolfenstein and the Farcry franchise, are speaking at the event in Auckland between 15 and 17 February.

Dilling, who's spent the last 14 years modeling and animating characters at Blizzard, will give insights into the creative process behind working on blockbuster games.

Aristov's presentation will highlight the design and implementation process he uses on his latest project, DOTA 2, including a technical demonstration.

Locals Chris Wilson, of Grinding Gear Games, and Stephen Harris, the creator of the popular mobile game Bloons and a Media Design School alumnus, will round out the three day conference with a Kiwi perspective on the gaming industry.

Attendees can get their game and design portfolios critiqued by the four industry insiders, and the summit will kick off with a gaming party.

Last year, Media Design School became the first tertiary institute in New Zealand to offer bachelor degrees dedicated to game development, with its Bachelor of Creative Technologies, and Bachelor of Software Engineering programmes.
