Designed for the love of food

International designer Emilie Baltz will deliver the keynote at the International Food Design Experience, Conference and Studio, hosted at Otago Polytechnic in July.

Baltz is a founding faculty member of New York’s Graduate School of Visual Arts Products of Design programmee and the Food Design Studio at New York’s Pratt Institute.

A trained dancer and photographer, she wrote the L.O.V.E Foodbook and Junk Foodie: 51 Delicious Recipes for the Lowbrow Gourmand.

Her commissions in the past six months include Traces – an eating experience using the table as a canvas, and Lickestra, a musical licking performance using conductive ice creams that trigger baselines and tones when licked, turning the eater into a performer.

She’ll be joined at the event by Kiwi chefs Michael Meredith, Guilio Sturla of Roots in Lyttelton and Auckland’s Gianpaolo Grazioli from ice cream parlour Giapo. Image: the Traces eating experience.
