From cowboys to connectors: what’s your digital clan? It’s Connect Smart Awareness Week, part of the government’s push to get us to be smarter about how we protect ourselves online. And the Digital Clan Quiz is one of the ways the campaign pushes people navel gaze about their online habits and offer security tips.

Turns out we’re pace setters here at Idealog (yes, we’ve virtually patted ourselves on the back) but others could be the kind to take online risks, or those who use the interweb sparingly for fear of putting a foot wrong.

Some people are online to be entertained – and are making good progress with their knowledge – while others love to connect.

The website brings together a range of security initiatives like a toolkit for SMEs developed by cyber security experts in conjunction with Vodafone, and a week of events.

They include a Trans Tasman Business Circle Panel Discussion and an IPENZ Radio New Zealand Panel Discussion on digital dangers.

Connect Smart is led by the government’s National Cyber Policy Office (NCPO), part of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, in partnership with a range of government agencies, non-government organisations, and the private sector.

Among the objectives of the New Zealand Cyber Security strategy are raising awareness and understanding of cyber security among individuals and small businesses, improving the level of cyber security across government, and building strategic relationships to improve cyber security for national infrastructure and other businesses.
