Do telcos want to see the end of Crown Fibre?

Kiwi telcos have written to communications minister Amy Adams slamming Crown Fibre and calling for it to be disestablished, a letter leaked to the Dominion Post shows.
Crown Fibre Holdings was established by the government to oversee its $1.3 billion investment in ultrafast broadband.
David Stone – head of the Telecommunications Carriers Forum – wrote to Adams on behalf of Telecom, Vodafone, CallPlus, 2degrees, Chorus, Wel Networks, Northpower and several other telcos, claiming Crown Fibre was intervening in key deals and thus delaying the offer of broadband to customers.
According to the Dominion Post, Adams said she had met with industry representatives and some had asked her for clarity around the roles of the agencies involved in the UFB rollout.
The telcos, according to the letter, believe Crown Fibre's role should be narrowed and that its minor responsibilities could be managed by existing state departments.
Stone wrote that Crown Fibre had been interfering with commercial arrangements between the companies building the UFB network – Chorus, Wel Networks, Enable and Northpower – and retail providers.
