Google could provide IT services to government
By Idealog,
The government is in talks with Google about providing cheaper and more efficient technology to the public sector, according to Prime Minister John Key.
Google already provides software services to other governments and a Treasury report has identified a potential $124 million savings through improving the government's information and communications technology services.
Key said a big revamp was on the cards for delivery of government services here, BusinessDesk reported.
He suggested being able to interact with government agencies on a smartphone as a benchmark, as well as better information sharing among agencies and mergers of some existing departments.
