    After a bulldozer yesterday began to tear down the cottage located at number 10 Turua street—one of the three Art Deco houses in St Heliers facing demolition—came news 15 minutes later that the Environment Court has granted an injunction on the demolition of the properties.

    It’s crunch time in Turua Street as protestors today make a final stand to save three Spanish style Art Deco cottages in Auckland’s St Heliers suburb. Awaiting the arrival of bulldozers, protestors picketed through the night following an announcement by Auckland Mayor Len Brown earlier this week that last ditch negotiations between the council, the developer and local residents, had failed to bring a resolution to save the houses.
