These days it should be a matter of good practice to design buildings that are as environmentally sustainable and energy efficient as possible, because as we all know, New Zealand has certainly had its fare share of shoddy buildings. The New Zealand Green Building Council’s (NZGBC) Green Star rating system goes some way to promoting sustainable building practices, and although it was first introduced into New Zealand in 2007, “firsts” in the rating system are still popping up. BNZ’s Harbour Quays office in Wellington is the latest to fall into this category, with the building’s fit-out receiving the country’s first 6 Green Star Office Interiors 2009 rating.
