The Type Directors Club (TDC) is something of an institution in the graphic design community. Founded in 1994, it works to support excellence in typography—both in print and on screen—supporting research and education, and disseminating information relating to typography. And the good news for the Whanganui School of Design is that it has become the first New Zealand design school to receive a scholarship from the club.

“Documents without font choices are like photographs without colors. Just as shades of color can add depth to a picture, smart font choices give your text another dimension,” says Google software engineer Jeremie Lenfant-Engelmann. And in light of that comment, Google has announced the addition of six new fonts for Google Docs that will make documents more appealing and easier to access.
